Norwich Union Star:Track Scheme
Norwich Union
star:track is an excellent introduction to track and field events.
star:track schemes are designed to bring together all forms of
athletics in what has proved to be an immensely enjoyable and busy
holiday activity.
Who
can take part?
star:track is
aimed at children upto the age of 15 and aims to provide a fun and
excitng introduction to a variety of athletic activities. Anyone
between these ages can take part regardless of his or her ability or
experience. It is an excellent chance to meet new friends, have a go at
a variety of athletic activities and learn correct techniques with the
aid of specialist coaching. Last year over 22,000 people took part in a
Norwich union star:track scheme.
When
does it happen?
star:track
takes place in the main during school holidays and generally schemes
last for a week, although in some parts of the country schemes may take
place at other times of the year. At the end of a fun-filled week of
athletics, you will receive information about the next steps you can
take to progress with your athletics.
Where
does it take place?
star:track
happens at over 400 venues throughout the UK, so there should be one
taking place near you! Where possible, full use is made of an athletics
track and field area but wherever star:track happens you will be using
equipment specially designed to help you learn safely and effectively.
How
can I get involved?
star:track
schemes are usually advertised in your local paper and through schools
- ask your teacher for more information or contact your local scheme
organisers. A full list of star:track schemes and contact numbers for
scheme organisers are placed on the UK Athletics website under "getting
involved - Norwich Union star:track" as well as photographs, news and
reports from previous years.
