Under
11 Boys Final Success
Stockport's Under 11 Boys
spearheaded a successful day for us at the North West Sports:Hall
League finals at Wigan's Robin Park Arena.
After finishing 4th with an injury-hit team last season, the team was
determined to go one better, and despite once again having two key
athletes fall ill at the last minute, excellent performances on the
track saw the boys grab the elusive team bronze. One of the most
memorable events was the 4x1 lap relay, where immaculate baton changing
saw the team lead for much of the race against bigger and stronger
ambition.
In the afternoon, Stockport's U13 and U15 Boys and girls were in
action.
The relatively new U13 Boys finished in 6th place, led by the
experience of Joe Shaw and Anthony Frost, who also won silver in the
speedbounce. The U15 Girls also finished in 6th place after coming
through one of the toughest competitions we have seen in that age group
for a long time. Some excellent performances cam from the team with a
bronze medal for Alyssa edwards in the Vertical Jump and a personal
best of 73 for Gemma Kiersey in the Speed Bounce.
The U15 boys finished a great season with a top three finsh once again.
After medalling in the vertical jump, Josh Sellars now moves up into
the U17 agegroup, but the rest of the team remains intact to challenge
for the league title next season.
Our thanks go to everyone who has supported the teams this season,
especially the new team managers, Colin Doodson, Charlii Russell, Jess
Yates, Matt Skelton and James Clark. We can look forwardto an even
better season in September, where getting all the teams to the final
looks possible for the first time!
