In the final round
of the Sportshall League at Widnes on January 29th, an amazing nine new
club records were set by DASH athletes!
In the Under 11 Boys, the Speed Bounce and Standing Long Jump were both
won by Miles Kilvington. In the Standing Long Jump, Miles beat his own
record by just one centimetre to finally reach the illustrious two
meter mark, with a jump of 2.00m. Miles also set a new Under 11 Boys
Speed Bounce record of 57 bounces in 20 seconds.
In the Under 13 Girls, Amy Kiersey bettered the old shot put record by
just a centimetre with 6.30m. A great throw! However, jamie Sellars
then proceeded to raise the standard even higher with a superb throw of
6.75m to take the record and finish 4th overall in the competition. In
the Under 13 Girls Speed Bounce, Olivia Yates set a magnificent record
of 85 bounces in 30 seconds, only 3 bounces off the National Record of
88! In the Standing Triple Jump, Jo Start (competing in her first
triple jump competition of the season) obliteated the old record of
5.84m with a massive 6.28m.
In the Under 15 Girls, new recruit Bessem Eyong set a shot put record
of 7.62m on the way to helping the girls qualify for the league finals.
It was a similar story in the Under 15 Boys shot, whee Tom Grant,
another new recruit, equalled Tom Willig's 2002 record of 9.24m.
Coach James Clark's Under 15 Boys Speed Bounce record of 86 was broken
by Tim Fost with a totla of 88 bounces in 30 seconds.
This is a truly awe-inspiring set of results that gives us plenty of
hope for the upcoming regional finals and next season! Well done to all
our record breakers!
