Track Sprint Relay - 2x2 Lap Pairs Relay
Each competitor runs two laps, which in turn equates to four lenghts of
the hall, including four turns. The first competitor starts as in a
normal race by running towards the first turn board.
After pasing the team mat on the return leg of the second lap, the next
runner gets up from the team mat, ready to receive the baton. The baton
is exchanged after the first leg runner has turned for the second time
on the return reversaboard.
The baton must always be exchanged whilst the competitors are are
running towards the first turn board, at the end where the lap number
counter stands. The first runner then immediately sits down on the rear
of the team mat to avoid obstructing the second leg runner.
The second and final runner must make sure that he or she crosses the
finishing line at the end of their second lap.
Baton Changeover
Whilst there is no official changeover box, it has been agreed that the
outgoing runner may start from a position 10 metres back from the start
/ finish line and the baton should not be exchanged before this point.
The outgoing runner must receive the baton before thewy rech their
first turn board. Should they not complete the exchange before this
turn then the team will not be disqualified but will be given last
place in the race.
Should two teams do the above then they will be placed in joint last
position.
Please recognise that team mats have proved to be essential peices of
equipment. If they ae not used, then runners can obstruct the race.
Team managers are permitted to sit and remain on their team mat during
the event and ensure any runner is not obstructed.
