Chest Push
The chest push is a standing throw with a
medicine ball. A medicine ball is a ball that is weighed down to make
it heavier. You hold the ball with two hand and push it from in front
of your chest as far as you can. Usually it is Under 11's that do this
event and they use a 1kg medicne ball, similar in weight to a bag of
sugar.
Rules
1. You must hold the ball against your chest and push it with both hands
2. You must keep both your feet on the floor at all times. No run-up is
permitted, although you may start with one foot in front of the other.
3. You can't go in front of the throwing line.
4. The judge will measure to where your throw touches the ground, o the
nearest 25cm.
5. You are not allowed to twist round during your throw. The chest must
face forwards all the time.
Technique Hints
1. If you bend your knees before you throw and then straighten them as
you rlease the ball, you will generate more power behind your throw.
2. Try to release the ball at an angle of as close as you can get to 45
degrees.
