Obstacle Relay (4x1 Lap)
This
event is intended to be fun. Each lane has it's own lane judge who is
randomly drawn for each race to ensure fair play.
Faults
The lane judge will award time penalties for faults which will be added
to the team's actual time to give the teams recorded time.
Start
Each competitor starts in a crouched position with both hands on the
edge of the tumble mat and both knees off the floor. The other team
members sit on the relay team mat.
Tumble
The runner completes a forward roll after which they should get up as
quickly as they can and run to the next obstacle. Note that it is
alright to perform a sideways roll if you can't do a forwards roll.
Hi-Stepper
Using a high-knee action, the runner must step through all the barriers
and step onto each section of the hi-stepper. There are 8 segments in
total, four for the left leg and four for the right leg. Penalties will
be given if any of the segments are missed out.
Faults will be given if you miss out a segment, if you place two feet
in a segment, if you place the wrong foot in a segment, if you step
onto the barriers. Penalties on the hi-stepper will be awarded at the
judge's discretion. A minor fault = 1/2 second penalty. A major fault =
1 second penalty.
Speedbounce
This section of the race is ten speedbounces over a normal speedbounce
mat, starting and finishing with the feet together. Both feet must land
on the same side to continue. Remember that the starting position count
is 0 and not 1.
Hurdles
Competitor to leap over two low 50ch high hurdles. There is no penalty
for knocking down a hurdle but a 1/2 second penalty will be added for
missing a hurdle.
Reversaboards
At the end of the lane place one foot on the board to change direction
then run the length of the hall without completing the obstacles
to the other reversaboard.
Changeover
The incoming runner runs on the reversaboard before touching the
shoulder of the next competitor who should be in the crouching position
in front of the tumble mat. The shoulder touch acts as the changeover.
The next competitor then starts with a tumble and the competitor who
has finished sits on the team mat. A penalty of 1/2 second will be
added if the changeover is not correct.
The Finish
The last competitor runs past the start mat and back to the finishing
line in the centre of the hall to complete the relay.
