Speedbounce
The speedbounce is a test of speed,
balance and coordination. During the event, you must cross a foam wedge
on a mat as many times as you can within the time-limit that you are
given. Usually, Under 11's have 20 seconds, and Under 13's and Under
15's have 30 seconds. Sometimes, U!13's and U15's will also have 20
second speedbounce.
Rules
1. You have one go to try and complete as many bounce over the wedge
within the time-limit.
2. The wedge that you have to cross is 20cm high.
3. To complete on bounce, both feet must touch one side of the mat.
4. The feet must go over the top of the wedge and not around the edge.
5. You must wear suitable footwear. Competing barefoot is not allowed.
6. The judge3 should allow you to have a few practice bounces. This is
in the national rules, so make sure in competition that you take the
chance to have your practice bounces.
7. The judge should use a whistle to stop and start your trial.
8. One correct cross of the wedge in either direction counts as one
bounce.
New Rule 1998: If the
competitor treads down on the wedge the bounce does not count, however,
if the competitor's feet hit the wedge
but both feet still cross to the other side then the bounce is counted.
Technique Hints
1. Speedbounce is all about getting into a rhythm.
2. Try to position your bodyweight above the wedge, so that you can
twist your legs to either side quicker and more easily.
3.Your feet should touch the mat on either side at the same time.
